I love the theoretical simplicity of January. It’s the month after holidays, travel, family, friends, food, insane busyness. It’s supposed to be the easy month in the year. Right?
Our January calendar has filled so quickly that I’m now looking forward to February to get my post-holiday breather! Game days, sick days, tournaments (for Mike), starting a new exercise routine, an anime convention that we’re staffing at the end of the month, editing two manuscripts, and oh yes, being a parent.
The exciting thing in regards to January is that I’m now open for beta readers! Betrayal by Blood should be ready for the next round of beta’s by early/mid February, and thus begins the process of finding new readers.
What does it take to be a beta reader?
–Time. I’m specifically looking for folks who can commit to reading Betrayal by Blood within a month of starting it. For example, if I send out Betrayal by Blood on February 1st, hopefully everyone would be done by March 1st.
–Honesty. Read it on Google Docs and give honest feedback. Loved that sentence? Say so! Hate that the character did that? Tell me! Think a section seems weak and needs work? Please, comment on it! Dying for more? A readers tears over a good book is the bread and butter of an author’s soul.
What’s in it for you?
Glad you asked. Not only will you get to read the manuscript before it’s released and have impact on it (I do listen to my beta’s comments!), but you’ll receive a signed copy once it’s printed, as well as a little gift.
Interested in the job? Shoot me an email and we can talk logistics. ^_^ firstname.lastname@example.org
